Katie Newburn
FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake Education & Outreach Director
Salt Lake City, UT
FRIENDS of Great Salt Lake is a nonprofit, membership-based organization founded in 1994 with the mission to preserve and protect the Great Salt Lake ecosystem through education, research, advocacy, and the arts. We provide several programs in pursuit of this mission including the fourth grade Lakeside Learning Field Trip program, Doyle Stephens Scholarship for graduate and undergraduate research, and the Alfred Lambourne Prize for artistic expression inspired by Great Salt Lake.
I have worked with FRIENDS since February 2019, facilitating our environmental education programs which seek to develop the next generation of Great Salt Lake stewards and engaging community members of all backgrounds through outreach.
I would love to talk about threats facing Great Salt Lake, how you can get involved in our programs, strategies to inform and affect the public's water consumption, and fun stories about adventures at the Lake.
